Abhijeet literally means A-Bhijeet> The undefeated, also translated as final victory. In line with Purva Ashada’s “former undefeated” and Uttar Ashada’s “latter undefeated” Abhijeet is “final undefeated”. This is the most mystical Nakshatra/ muhurta. Most of the sources are not sure, whether to call it a nakshatra or not. Even sources differ about the span of Abhijeet muhurta. Most accepted span is last Pada of Uttar Ashada to 00:53:20 Shravana (A very short one-4.5-5 degrees approx). It resides mostly in Uttar Ashada Pada 4 (Pisces Navamsa) and a very small part of Shravana Pada 1 (Aries navamsa). As per KRS both Sun and Moon can be considered as ruling planet of Abhijeet as Uttar Ashada is ruled by Sun and Shravana by Moon. Now, 27 nakshatras are considered as 27 wives of Chandra and all the names signify female characters. Only Abhijeet is male. Abhijeet is also considered as brother of 27 wives of Chandra. If we say there are 28 nakshatras then, the calculation of dashas will get extremely complicated and that is why most of the astrologers consider 27 nakshatras for prediction. However, for choosing auspicious time of any good work, Abhijeet muhurta is still used. It is said that success is guaranteed if someone starts any work in this Muhurta with noble intentions. In Lunar Calendar Moon transits once in each lunar month through Abhijeet. Lunar calendar has 354 days (approx) and days in each month vary (29/30). Sun transits through Abhijeet once in each year. That time is few days after Makar Sankranti or Uttarayan. For example in 2019 this date is 21st January when Sun will transit through last pada of Uttar Ashada. In each day also Abhijeet muhurta occurs for a short period when Sun is in mid-sky (about 48 minutes). If we see order of Purusharthas in nakshatras then, the pattern is DAKM-MKAD. But Uttar Ashada belongs to Moksha group and Shravana in Artha group. So, Kama is missing from the pattern. Abhijeet bridges this Kama part. People choose this auspicious time so that their desires (Kama) are fulfilled surely. It is very auspicious muhurta for starting business, partnerships, marriage, upanayan, declaration of war (for a right cause) or any auspicious work; if a greater and noble cause is involved then this muhurta provides sure success. In a birth chart “house of fulfillment of desires, growth and gains” i.e. 11th house is also a Kama house. Sri Vishnu and Krishna are also well associated with Abhijeet. Vishnu is the deity associated with the 22nd nakshatra Shravana (3 Footsteps of Vishnu). Lord Krishna is said to be born in Abhijeet muhurta/ nakshatra. In Srimad Bhagvatam he explained to Arjuna that “masanam margasirso ’ham/ naksatranam tathabhijit”(Verse 11.16.27). Which means among months he is Margashirsha (Agrahayan) and among nakshatras he is Abhijeet. But in Bhagvad Gita the same Krishna said “maricir marutam asmi/nakṣatraṇam aham sasi” (Verse 10.21) which means he is marut among marici and Moon(?) among nakshatras. Why he said two different things at two different times must be for some reason. If the true essence of Abhijeet is meant to be hidden, then it must be kept hidden. Though he gave some clues in Verse 10.31 of Bhagvad Geeta “jhaṣaṇam makaras casmi/srotasam asmi jahnavi” that he is Makar (water creatures like sharks and crocodiles) among fishes. Many consider Crocodile as symbol of Capricorn sign. Even Matsya avatar is the first among 10 avatars of Vishnu. That is how mystical this Abhijeet muhurta/nakshatra is. Natives born in this Muhurta/ nakshatra (Uttar Ashada Pada 4- Shravana 00:53:20) are generally very blessed , gifted, kind, compassionate, impartial, artistic, honest, ethical, talented and successful individuals. They may be inclined towards spirituality and occult studies as well. Though natives may face trouble during childhood but Abhijeet ensures final victory. Other characteristics are quite similar to Uttar Ashada Pada 4 (Pisces). Presiding deity Bramha also influences creativity within the natives. Needless to say that birth in Abhijeet is very rare in earth. Very few fortunate people are born in this Muhurta/ Nakshatra.
